The Wanted Level

Editorial policy

The Wanted Level covers Grand Theft Auto through news, guides, features and opinion. Our aim is to give readers accurate information, useful context and a clear understanding of what is confirmed and what remains uncertain.

This policy sets out the standards we apply to our work.

Accuracy and sourcing

We check factual claims before publication and prioritise original sources wherever possible. These may include Rockstar Games announcements, publisher statements, patch notes, direct interviews and information verified in-game.

When another publication, creator or community member originates a story or discovery, we credit them and link to their work where available.

We assess sources on their evidence, relevance and reliability. Multiple articles repeating the same claim do not count as independent confirmation.

Rumours, leaks and speculation

We may report on credible rumours or alleged leaks when there is a clear reason for readers to know about them.

We identify unconfirmed information in the headline and article, explain where it originated and describe any limitations in the evidence. A source’s previous track record can provide context, but does not prove a new claim is accurate.

Community theories and our own analysis are presented as interpretation. We do not describe speculation as an official announcement.

Headlines and presentation

Headlines, images and social posts should accurately reflect the story. We aim to make our coverage engaging without overstating the evidence or implying confirmation where none exists.

Quotations should preserve the speaker’s meaning, and material context should not be omitted.

Guides

Our guides aim to provide clear, practical help. We explain relevant requirements, restrictions and differences between game versions or platforms.

Where advice is based on our own testing, we make that clear. Where we rely on documentation or other sources, we attribute them appropriately. We revisit guides when significant updates change the information they contain.

Opinion and analysis

Opinion pieces reflect the views of their credited author. Analysis may draw conclusions from available evidence, but should distinguish those conclusions from established facts.

Criticism should focus on games, decisions and conduct, with reasoning that readers can assess for themselves.

Editorial independence and disclosures

Editorial decisions are based on a story’s relevance and value to readers. Advertisers and commercial partners do not receive favourable coverage in exchange for payment or other benefits.

Sponsored content is clearly labelled. Where an article contains affiliate links that may earn us a commission, we disclose this.

We also disclose relevant benefits or relationships, such as supplied review access, paid travel or a personal connection, when they could reasonably affect how readers assess the coverage.

Corrections and updates

When we identify a factual error, we correct it as promptly as possible. Substantive corrections include a note explaining what changed. Minor spelling, grammar or formatting fixes may be made without a correction note.

If new information materially changes a developing story, we update the article or link to subsequent coverage as appropriate.

To report an error, please use the details on our Contact page and include the article URL and supporting evidence.

AI and editorial responsibility

We do not use AI to fabricate quotations, sources, interviews or claims of first-hand experience. Synthetic imagery must not be presented as an authentic screenshot, official asset or evidence of an alleged leak.

The Wanted Level remains responsible for everything it publishes.
